Ham and Swiss Sushi Rolls
Kids will love these sushi rolls because they taste so good (without any "scary" ingredients like real sushi), they're colorful and pretty, and they're FUN to eat and dip into your very own dipping dish. You can even use chopsticks! Parents will love them because you can have the taste of sushi at home, without having to go out to an expensive restaurant. They're so easy to make- all in about 30 minutes using simple ingredients that many of us have on hand already! YUM!
Ingredients:
4 tbsp FRENCH'S® Classic Yellow® Mustard
8 small fajita-size tortillas
8 tsp sesame seeds
2 cup cooked rice
8 slices deli swiss cheese
16 slices deli ham
1 small cucumber
.5 cup soy sauce, for dipping
Directions:
1. Lay out tortillas and spread each with 1/2 tbsp. of mustard. Sprinkle each tortilla with 1 tsp. sesame seeds. Spread 1/4 c. rice on each tortilla.
2. Place a slice of cheese and 2 slices of ham on each tortilla.
3. Half cucumber lengthwise, then into quarters lengthwise, then into eighths. Place one slice of cucumber on each tortilla.
4. Roll up each tortilla tightly, and secure with two toothpicks, one at each end.
5. Using a small serrated knife, cut each roll into approximately 1 inch rounds (about 5 rounds per roll).
6. Divide soy sauce equally in individual dipping dishes. Arrange rolls on serving tray and serve with dipping dishes of soy sauce.
I like to make these using whole-wheat tortillas and brown rice to make them even healthier for my family!
