Congratulations to Heather Smith for Winning the 2009 Cookoff

Frisco Burgers

I am originally from California but moved to the South 8 years ago. I miss California food made without frying or breading. This is like a taste of home.

4 tbsp FRENCH'S® Classic Worcestershire Sauce

4 oz FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions

Mix ground chuck with 2 tbsp of the minced garlic, worchestershire sauce, salt and pepper until well blended. Pat into 2 patties, appromimately 1/2" thick. Heat grill to medium or set oven to broil. In a medium non-stick or well seasoned frying pan heat butter and remaining garlic until melted on medium heat. Add mushrooms and sautee until cooked but not browned. Remove from heat and set aside. Lightly butter sourdough slices and toast in toaster oven until lightly browned or butter and toast on grill. Cook burgers to medium, flipping once (approximately 5 minutes each side). Top each with 1 tbsp of mustard, 1/2 mushroom mixture and 1 slice of swiss cheese. Continue cooking until cheese is melted, but not dripping. Remove from grill, Set on toast and sprinkle with French's fried onions.
This is a quick and easy summer burger for hearty appetites and can be served without the bread for a lo-carb meal. I like to serve it with quick lo-carb coleslaw Recipe submitted) for a quick grill dinner.
